Synchronizing 100% personality models does not sound easy. The problem is that the older outfits and layer use are modeled to match the older pso2 body. That's unlikely to happen. I mean that I'd be willing to shed a certain percentage of these cosmetics to keep things intact across versions. As long as there's a steady feed of cool new things to replace it, I don't mind. I always rotate out my older appearances anyhow. Provided that the character versions translate 1:1 it'll still feel like mine.
I would envision a large complication to this entails a great deal of the makeup from the Japanese side of things that were exclusive to collaborations, promotional events, and events that no longer exist. The example I can think of is the Monster Hunter Frontier Z cooperation where I could envision the clothing and weapons could definitely be given a visual upgrade together with everything else but I don't exactly understand how the licensing or the way the legal side of this cooperation works where I'd wish it had been as easy as Sega going through and updating the assets but I do not understand about just how much Capcom is involved in this process.
The same applies to collaborations such as the Final Fantasy XIV cooperation with Odin (which exists as far as I know) where I do not understand how much Square Enix is involved that for Sega to have the ability to update assets . When it was only just Phantasy Star-related items (such as character outfits, cameos from different games, or other Sega-related properties) I could imagine that this likely would have been achieved, or would be carried out. But in buy Phantasy Star Online 2 Meseta the worldwide variant we don't have the existence of Cougar NX so that I do not know if there are additional complications seeing Sega's own properties that might also contribute to not upgrading everything they could within reason.
