Police in Southern California recently arrested four Colombian nationals who were suspected of a series of criminal operations in Glendale called "theft tourism." According to police, the operation involved installing cameras on city streets and private properties to monitor residents' activities in order to find opportunities for burglary.
On Monday, police stopped a vehicle with no headlights on and searched it and found a video surveillance device containing a battery pack charging system disguised as leaves. Also found in the vehicle were construction hard hats, vests and several jewelry boxes, which are believed to be tools used to approach the target house at close range and commit thefts.
The four suspects arrested are Bryan Martinez Vargas, 28, Jose Antonio Velasquez, 28, Edison Arley Pinzon Fandino, 27, and Luis Carlos Moreno, 29. They are charged with conspiracy to commit theft.
It is worth noting that this is not the first time Vargas has been arrested. Police revealed that he was arrested three weeks ago and arrested again on April 30 during a high-speed chase. During the pursuit, he and another suspect discarded stolen items and a WiFi signal jammer used to disable home security systems.
