The offensive boosts are now of an absolute rather than a relative nature (i.e. +2% instead of +8, and critical hit chance appears to be the sole offensive boost that is available. This seriously hurts more powerful, slower weapons such as rapier. Rapier's speed has been reduced to the speed of a CLS using stab instead slash.

It isn't a good reason to not implement something, but nostalgia is. There are other reasons that you could choose to vote for the number 138, which aren't related to nostalgia. One is familiarity, which I find odd given that the 200 formula has been around for well over a year now.

The next step is pures. This makes no sense. The combat scaling system did not ruin pures, but rather because they couldn't wear the hitpoint-boosting armour that their opponents with high defense had. Another reason for this is because it could increase prestige for maxed combat. While this is valid, a combat level is not intended to indicate how hard someone has worked on their own account.

Not only is the 200 formula scale players well and easy to figure out. If you increase your defence level for instance, you're likely to know the combat level you will be. You should also be able to look at another player's combat level to get an idea of their stats.

When you consider all of this, it's difficult to say that the 138 combat calculation does better than the 200 calculations. This is particularly relevant for the current EOC system.

A Possible Saving Grace. Important note at the close of this editorial Jagex will host another poll that allows players to cast their votes on the 138 calculation. This could help to solve the problem mentioned above. The system would have to change drastically. The calculation would be affected by hitpoints as well as Attack and Strength would need to be adjusted to magic and ranged.

Ok I have alwas wanted to use Ancient mage but i have never been able to aford the Runes to mage. Now that I am able to cut Yews, I've been alching my level to 41.
