Nest x Yale vs. August Best Smart Lock

Over the last few years, I've tested more than 10 different smart locks. After a new month of testing, I determined August is still the best smart lock platform because of its auto-unlock feature and smart home compatibility. Nest x Yale features great-looking hardware, but it doesn't offer any unique software features compared to August. To get more news about electronic safe lock, you can visit securamsys.com official website.

More than five smart locks are controlled with the August app. For this post, I'll focus on the Yale Assure (comes with the August Module) because it's the best August lock on the market. Almost everything I write in this post about Yale Assure applies to all of the August locks as well.

The August 4th Gen (hockey puck-shaped) may be preferred for those who live in apartments, which I'll cover in the design section.

Want to learn how I reached this conclusion? Read on to see the detailed breakdown of software, user-friendliness, and design that informed my overall impression.

Want to learn how I reached this conclusion? Read on to see the detailed breakdown of software, user-friendliness, and design that informed my overall impression.
August lets you control the system when you're not home, see a history of who's opened the door, and give people recurring scheduled access, temporary access, or permanent access.

August has two unique features that aren't found on other smart locks:

With most smart locks, the app assumes that your house is locked and secured as long as the lock is in the lock position. But what if someone didn't shut the door all the way? The door may be locked, but your home is not secure.

August's DoorSense fixes this. August always knows the status of your door and warns you in the app when the door isn't shut fully. When your door isn't shut fully, the Auto-Lock feature is disabled.

The second unique feature is called "Auto Unlock," which puts the system in "away mode" after you leave your house, then unlocks your August when you come back home.

August is the only smart lock platform that I've ever tested with an auto-unlock feature. Auto Unlock works perfectly about 95% of the time, while the other times it still works, it's just slow.

Auto-Unlock is a magical experience when you come home from the grocery store with five bags on each arm. When Auto Unlock works correctly, it's like your door doesn't even have a lock. It's the most convenient feature of any smart home product that I've ever tested.Nest x Yale doesn't play nice with any smart home platforms outside of Google's ecosystem. Nest expects you to use it exclusively within the Nest ecosystem and the lack of compatibility is its biggest weakness.

Nest x Yale has basic integration with other Nest products. For example, when you unlock Nest x Yale, your Nest Secure alarm system can disarm automatically. I'm surprised that Nest x Yale and Nest Hello don't have any integrations with each other after three years of both being on the market.Installation is relatively painless for both locking systems. Each app leads a simple, step-by-step process with a combination of video and gifs.

You'll need to remove your existing deadbolt setup, put the keypad through your hole, attach and mount the backplate to the keypad, attach the wire from the keypad to the lock lever base, then mount the lock lever base to the backplate with three screws.

The Best Smart Locks for 2022

Keeping thieves out of your home is one part of their job description, but smart locks are also preventive guards that can track whenever a door is opened or closed. Locks with fingerprint sensors can inform you if the kids came home within a designated time, while others can automatically lock themselves if you happen to forget to do it yourself. Smart locks have transformed the way we interact and safeguard our homes, offering us the same peace of mind that security cameras offer. To get more news about smart lock door wifi, you can visit securamsys.com official website.

Smart locks use your Wi-Fi, mobile apps, and popular voice assistants. Leading smart lock designs, such as the kind found with the August Wi-Fi Smart Lock, are also sleek and attractive, allowing the hardware to blend in with the natural features of your home. There are even some that are multi-functional, offering security features to protect your home beyond just locking the door. On the other end of the spectrum, smart locks are now more affordable than ever before. Owning one is only marginally more expensive than a standard lock. Best of all, you don't need to be a professional to install them.

We've tested dozens of smart locks, so we have a recommendation that will work for every owner and every home that covers the range. If you're looking to cover more of your home, you can also take a look at the latest home security camera discounts. Whichever you end up choosing, you might be surprised by what they're capable of doing beyond the obvious.
This latest iteration of the August Smart Lock breaks free from the bonds of its predecessors' need for a bridge to operate remotely. Thanks to its built-in Wi-Fi connection, the August Wi-Fi Smart Lock connects to your home's wireless network without the need for a bridge or other additional hardware.

Beyond that, it's one of the simplest smart locks to install and set up. Plus, it's able to retain your existing lock - so you don't need new keys. What's impressive is that the company adds in the Wi-Fi connection, while shrinking the overall size of the lock. It is 45% smaller in volume and 20% slimmer, making it a sleek little lock, and comes in either silver or matte black plastic.

In addition to using the app to remotely operate the lock, the August Wi-Fi Smart Lock supports Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple's Siri. Meaning, it integrates nicely with just about any smart home platform. There are also some advanced features that make it a premier offering, like virtual keys that work on a set schedule, and automatic lock/unlock as you approach or leave your home. This attractive smart lock is a product of Nest and Yale. An elegant touchscreen keypad replaces the regular old lock and key mechanism, and the exterior surround comes in satin nickel, oil-rubbed bronze, or polished brass. The oval-shaped outside keypad is 4.59 inches tall by 2.59 inches wide, while the interior lock is 7.03 inches tall by 2.78 inches wide. Four AA batteries power the lock, and the batteries should last about one year before you have to replace them.

You choose a passcode (between four and eight digits) to unlock the door, and you can also use the app. Additionally, the Nest X Yale has an automatic locking feature that activates after a duration of time that you select, and it has a home/away feature that locks the door automatically. Google Home users can voice control the Nest X Yale. You can check the status of your lock from the road, lock your door when you're not home, and add your lock commands to Google Routines. There are very few smart locks that support Apple's HomeKit. However, the best one for Apple's smart home platform is none other than the Level Lock Touch.

First, it sports an unconventional design for a smart lock. There are no bulky keypads, nor is there an equally bulky component that goes over the deadbolt on the inside of the door. Instead, the Level Lock Touch looks like an ordinary lock - one that retains the appearance and styling of a traditional lock. What's also neat about the smart lock is that you can interact with the Level Lock Touch by either tapping on the keyhole housing or using the included NFC-equipped keycards for opening and locking the lock.

Once it's connected to HomeKit, you can ask Siri on your iOS device or HomePod speaker to unlock the door. It will also unlock itself automatically because it leverages GPS on your iPhone to set up a geofence around your home. All of these features make the Level Lock Touch the best lock for HomeKit.Schlage has been around for quite some time - well before there was such a thing as a smart lock. But Schlage has now evolved into one of the best smart lock makers in the biz. The Schlage Encode isn't just a beautiful piece of hardware, it's also a device that works well with Alexa, as well as a wide range of other third-party applications, including Amazon's Cloud Cam, Key by Amazon, and Ring security products. You can also use it with the Schlage Home app.

Lockly already had a phenomenal offering with the Secure Pro, but its follow-up takes it one step further. The Lockly Vision has everything that Airbnb hosts crave. From its ability to unlock via fingerprint, pin code, or even through a phone, there are plenty of options to choose from.

Guests that do plan on staying at your home or Airbnb residence can be given temporary key codes that they can punch into the touchscreen keypad when they arrive, which can also be made time-sensitive for additional security. Once their stay is complete, you can have another set of codes for the next guest.

Everything is tracked by the app, which can tell you the method that was used to unlock the lock - including if it's the old fashion way with a key! What makes the Lockly Vision even more appealing is its integrated video camera, which allows it to act very much like a video doorbell camera.

Ultion Nuki is a savvy smart lock for safety

Precision-engineered and fitted with the latest smart home technology, the Ultion Nuki smart lock is ultra secure and designed for easy installation. To get more news about wifi smart lock, you can visit securamsys.com official website.

Ultion, a leading UK security brand, has teamed up with Europe's top smart lock supplier, Nuki, to design the new Ultion Nuki specifically for safeguarding British doors. It is protected by state-of-the-art end-to-end encryption that's used in online banking, and if suspicious activity or tampering is detected it will automatically go into lockdown mode to ensure the door is securely kept shut.

When we think about the safety and security of our homes, it's that extra peace of mind that we want and with this stringent, up-to-date technology and reassurance we can rest easy.

"By combining a dedicated lock trusted by British locksmiths and awarded 3-Star Plus Diamond Sold Secure status, with a Nuki unit given the highest possible rating for IT security by Germany's respected AV-Test GmbH Institute, Ultion Nuki is a smart lock you can trust," commented Nick Dutton, CEO at Brisant-Secure.
A one-model-fit-all solution, the lock is compatible with Ring, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Apple HomeKit, IFTTT, AirBnB, the Nuki app, and smartwatches. This means there's no need to replace it even if you decide to switch smart home platforms.

By installing multiple Ultion Nuki, you can centrally lock all the doors in your house or premises with one simple instruction through your preferred smart platform. Also, with its sleek, engineered design, it can be retrofitted to existing doors or added to new ones without the fuss of drilling, wiring, or calibration - and installation to operation can be completed in just five minutes!

The latest generation of smart locks is, finally, reliable. That means you can install a connected gadget in your front door and enjoy the benefits-features like fingerprint identification, remote access, video monitoring, even special codes for Airbnb guests-without worrying about something going haywire and getting locked out of your own house. It may be time to say goodbye to your keys forever.

With voice-command functionality and the ability to grant access to friends, August's smart lock is fully evolved-and also the easiest of those tested to install. (It took 15 minutes.) Because the device replaces only the inside part of your existing dead bolt, there's no need to swap out perfectly calibrated hardware that already works.

Best for Those Who Still Want a Key

Although you can open the door with a tap of your finger, the Kevo also protects you with the same encryption protocols that banks use to thwart hackers. The optional WiFi bridge ($100) allows remote access, but this isn't just for techies: It's also easy to use with a key.

BrillLock Fingerprint Door Lock review: Biometric security on a budget

Fingerprint-reading door locks aren't known for their affordability, but startup BrillLock is aiming to change that with this new system, which recently completed a Kickstarter launch with more than $30,000 in backing. Although it's a crowd-funded project (without even an official website as yet), the lock was sent to me for review in its reportedly finished, ready-to-ship form. TechHive doesn't otherwise cover Kickstarter products. To get more news about best fingerprint door locks, you can visit securamsys.com official website.

Before we dig into what it is and how it works, let's start with a discussion of what BrillLock isn't. First, it isn't a deadbolt like most smart locks. Rather it's a keyed, lever-style handle with a standard latch mechanism. The keyhole is secreted beneath a small cover plate, and the fingerprint reader can be found on the inside of the exterior handle; casual observers won't be able to tell that it's a biometric lock at all.Second, BrillLock is not actually a smart lock. There's no wireless connectivity and no app to control it. Rather, all programming-which is limited to adding and deleting fingerprints-must be completed via combinations of touching the fingerprint sensor and holding down a small button found on the end of the handle.

BrillLock ships with some decidedly basic instructions, but none of them cover physical hardware installation. The good news is that figuring this out isn't difficult. The latch attaches to the door via two standard wood screws, and the two escutcheons are bolted together directly. While the typical smart lock can require piecing together six or more components, BrillLock goes together with just three. The unit is powered by a lithium-ion battery inside the mechanism, which is recharged via a Micro-USB port on the handle. It's a lot more convenient than replacing AA batteries, but it probably means using a portable USB power pack to do the periodic recharging. BrillLock says the batteries will last for 3,000 entries between charges. An LED flashes red when the battery needs to be charged.

Despite the absence of setup manual, I had the lock hardware installed in just a few minutes and was ready to start programming it. BrillLock does include a small page of instructions on how to do this, and it's simple enough once you get the hang of it. Hold down the button for three seconds, wait for a green light to flash, then scan your finger six times in a row. The first two unique fingerprints you scan are stored as admin fingerprints, which are then used to store additional fingerprints (up to 10 total). Deleting any fingerprint (through more button-hold operations) deletes all 10, so you'll have to start over if someone moves out.

Registering prints was hit and miss in my testing. The reader had no major trouble with my first two scans, but additional prints were tricky to get registered without errors. I had similar problems simply using the fingerprint scanner in regular use. Sometimes the lock would open right away, other times it would refuse to recognize my print for five or six scan attempts in a row. It's a sometimes frustrating system that will likely be a major issue for those who need this kind of feature the most: small children and elderly users who might not have access to a physical key. (Two backup keys are included in the box.) Note also that once you do get the lock to disengage, it automatically relocks quickly, within about five seconds. There's no way to alter this behavior.

BrillLock's hardware is sturdy, its design is unobtrusive, and at $75, its price is right (although that might change after BrillLock emerges as a regular retail product). If the scanning system was more robust, it would be an easy recommendation for folks who want to add biometric entry to their home-without the complexity of an app-based ecosystem. As it stands, it's a little too erratic in operation to earn a strong recommendation.

DEFT Freight Terminal Electrification Project Begins Trial

The Decarbonisation and Electrification of Freight Terminals (DEFT) project is one of 30 ground-breaking initiatives to win a share of 9 million GBP (10.65m euros | 11.8m USD) in Department for Transport and Innovate UK funding via the First Of A Kind competition.Get more news about Juk Rail Terminal, you can vist our website!

Freight trains are typically loaded and unloaded from above, preventing the use of the high-voltage overhead cables used on mainline railways.

As such, they still rely on diesel to move in and out of terminals and passengers can be held up by slower diesel freight trains on mainlines - or those waiting to be moved into a depot by a shunter.

However, Furrer+Frey engineers have designed a new moveable overhead conductor system where overhead equipment supplying electricity to the locomotives can safely move away once the train is in place and return when the train needs to move again.

This is based on a similar system for passenger train depots, which has been installed at the Temple Mills Eurostar depot, for example. However, no such system has been successfully developed for the distinct needs of rail freight until now.

The new system is currently being trialled at a Tarmac aggregate facility in Wellingborough in partnership with GB Railfreight. If successful, it could go on to be deployed at other freight terminals across the UK.

This will bring the rail industry a step closer to achieving the government's goal of removing all diesel-only trains from the UK network by 2040.
