Flying Speeds in Burning Crusade Classic: Regular and Swift Mounts
The default flying mounts available to TBC players fall under two classes:
·Introductory Rare quality mounts (such as Golden Gryphon) with 60% increased movement speed on both land and in the air
·Advanced Epic quality mounts (such as Swift Blue Gryphon) with 100% speed on land and 280% speed in the air.

The "Swift" mounts require an additional level of riding skill to be trained, on top of the base flying skill, before they can be used. The 60% speed of the Rare flying mounts means that these mounts are actually slower than the Epic ground mounts you acquired at level 60! As a result, you should stick to your ground mount when traveling on land, and only use the flying mount (a) when it is required to access new areas, or (b) when it speeds up your travel by allowing you to short circuit windy paths.

TBC Classic: Riding skill & mount gold costs
Unlike in World of Warcraft: Classic with ground mounts, the riding skill gold costs in Burning Crusade classic is quite high, compared to the mount cost. We are just going to pull off the bandaid quickly, as Expert Riding and a Rare flying mount will set you back 900 gold. Dark Riding Talbuk

Onyx Netherwing Drake
The Onyx Netherwing Drake is another epic mount locked behind a reputation gate with the Netherwing faction in Shadowmoon Valley. The Netherwings had to be earned through a series of daily quests, a lot of Netherwing Egg farming, or a combination of the two. Azure Netherwing Drake

Once you have reached Exalted with the Netherwing faction, you can complete a quest with one -- and only one! -- of the drakes assembled in the Lower City of Shattrath in order to receive a free Netherwing Drake mount. Cenarion War Hippogryph
The Cenarion War Hippogryph is a special flying mount available to players who obtain Exalted reputation with the Cenarion Expedition. It was the first hippogryph mount to be added to the game. It uses the same model as the first hippogryphs provided by flight masters. This mount is sold by Fedryen Swiftspear, the Cenarion Expedition quartermaster, at the Cenarion Refuge in Zangarmarsh. It is ridable by players who have a riding skill of 300. Its cost is 2000g (1600g with the Exalted discount of 20%).

Ashes Of Al'ar
The Ashes of Al'ar grant their wielder the ability to summon an epic phoenix mount. The item has a very low drop chance. The Ashes of Al'ar are one of the few mounts in The Burning Crusade that drop from a boss, namely Kael'Thas Sunstrider. It's unlikely that Kael'Thas will be killable upon release of the expansion, as Blizzard will time gate content releases akin to the original game's release schedule. Nonetheless, this is certainly one to set sights on, and tends to be the premier mount in any collection, especially during Burning Crusade.
